Our mission

Quick-Step’s diverse range of design vinyl, laminate and timber flooring solutions reveals a passion for all things beauty and for continuous innovation — in our products, but also in our processes.

Our history

1960: UNILIN IS BORN

Several families active in the flax industry in the southern part of West Flanders join forces to manufacture flax chipboards in Ooigem, Belgium. The new company is named ‘UNILIN’. In the 1970s, the company starts to grow rapidly. However, as flax is becoming less and less available, it is soon traded for timber as a raw material.

1990: QUICK-STEP HITS THE MARKET

With Quick-Step, UNILIN is the first company to introduce laminate floors on the Belgian market — and the first laminate manufacturer to introduce its own brand.

1997: THE INVENTION OF ‘UNICLIC’

What if installing a laminate floor would be as easy as clicking planks together, with no need for glue? This idea sparks the invention of Quick-Step’s Uniclic system: a revolutionary, globally patented click system that guarantees swift and easy installation in every situation.

2001: QUICK-STEP GETS INTO THE V-GROOVE

Quick-Step adds a new perspective to laminate flooring, literally: the aptly named Perspective range is the first laminate floor with a V-groove between planks.

2001: INTRODUCING NATURALLY MATCHING STRUCTURES

Finally, what you feel matches what you see. In an industry first, Quick-Step succeeds in matching the surface structure of its laminate planks with their natural patterns.

2005: MEET THE FIRST PERMANENTLY ANTISTATIC LAMINATE FLOOR

Quick-Step starts treating all its laminate floors with a permanent antistatic layer to prevent unpleasant electrostatic charges.

2006: INTRODUCING MATCHING SKIRTING BOARDS

Quick-Step introduces impact and scratch-resistant skirting boards that perfectly match the colour and surface structure of the corresponding floor.

2006: INCIZO, THE FIRST MULTI-PURPOSE FINISHING PROFILE

With Incizo, Quick-Step presents the first multi-purpose profile that can be used as a finishing profile for floors and stairs.

2007: QUICK-STEP BRINGS LAMINATE TO BATHROOMS

'Lagune' — a Quick-Step laminate flooring collection perfectly suited for damp areas, such as bathrooms — sees the light of day.

2009: TIMBER JOINS THE QUICK-STEP FAMILY

Quick-Step expands its offering with the introduction of timber floors. The surface consists of a solid timber top layer.

2009: 'UNICLIC MULTIFIT' CLICK SYSTEM IS INTRODUCED

The Uniclic Multifit system builds on the original 'Uniclic' system introduced in 1997, and launches a third fitting method: ‘slide and click’.

2013: QUICK-STEP LAUNCHES VINYL FLOORING SOLUTIONS

Quick-Step introduces ‘Livyn’ vinyl, a comfortable quality floor with the natural look and feel of timber and the practical benefits of a synthetic floor.

2014: NEW PRODUCTION SITE IN CZECH REPUBLIC

To create additional capacity for a fast-growing market and enable better, faster and eco-friendlier production, UNILIN opens a new plant in Vyskov, Czech Republic.

2014: ‘IMPRESSIVE’, THE NEW WATER-RESISTANT LAMINATE FLOOR

‘Impressive’ and ‘Impressive Ultra’ bring new levels of water resistance to laminate flooring — without requiring additional coatings. Another industry first for Quick-Step!

2015: VINYL MADE IN BELGIUM

UNILIN starts manufacturing vinyl flooring in Belgium in a brand-new, hi-tech production unit at its Belgian plant in Wielsbeke.
